Thanks for this article, but I respectfully disagree that the only or best way to fix this is at the university level. In addition to supporting diversity in college, hiring managers can do A LOT to get a more diverse pipeline just by promoting their job listings to diverse groups. Beyond that, it can help to publish really clear info on what you’ll be looking for in the interview process — more diverse candidates might have the same potential, but they don’t know the insider tricks for interviewing.
